Ask the plumber
A high water table after snowmelt is common in the Northwest Suburbs and can keep a pump cycling. A stuck float switch or a missing or failed check valve can also make it run nonstop. If it runs with no water coming in, call us before the motor burns out.
Most tank water heaters last about 8 to 12 years. Rusty water, rumbling noises, or water around the base are signs it is near the end. Replacing it before it fails is cheaper than cleaning up a flooded basement.
Gurgling usually means air is being pulled through the drain. That points to a partial clog in the line or a blocked vent. If more than one fixture gurgles or drains slowly, the problem is likely further down the line.
